HAMBLEDEN SPORTS CLUB RULES
1. The name of the Club shall be the Hambleden Sports Club.
2. The colours of the Club shall be Amber and Black.
3. The objectives shall be to promote various Sports and Social Activities.
4. The Club's affairs shall be managed by a General Committee comprising of twenty members: The Chairman, Vice Chairman, Hon. Treasurer, Hon. Secretary, and sixteen other Members.
All Officers and Committee Members will retire annually and be eligible for re-election at the Annual General Meeting.
The General Committee may fill casual vacancies on the General Committee and any Committee Members so appointed shall retire and be eligible for re-election at the next following Annual General Meeting.
TEN Members shall form a quorum.
5. The Annual General Meeting will be held during February or March of each year for the purpose of:-
i. Election of Officers
ii. Election of Committee Members
iii. Receiving Hon. Treasurer's Report
iv. Receiving Hon. Sports Secretaries' Reports
v. To receive and pass the Audited Balance Sheet and Accounts
vi. To elect Hon. Auditors
vii. Transact the General Business of the Club
TWENTY Members shall form a quorum at any Annual General Meeting.
The voting at an Annual General Meeting is confined to Members of the Club and all Members are entitled to vote and have equal voting rights.
6. The General Committee shall meet at least once each Calendar Month.
7. The General Committee may appoint a Sub-Committee, who in turn may co- opt other members as necessary, provided that no less than two-thirds of such Sub-Committees are duly elected Members of the General Committee, and provided that in the case of any Sub-Committee having less than four Members or concerned with purchases for the Club or with the supply by the Club intoxicating liquor all the Members thereof duly elected Members of the General Committee.
8. An extraordinary General Meeting shall be held at the written request of the General Committee or of twelve Members of the Club, or one-fifth of the total number of Members of the Club, for the purpose of business stated in the request and such business shall be decided by a majority of two-thirds of those present.
9. FOURTEEN days notice shall be given of every Annual or Special Meeting.
10. The Rules of the Club shall be altered only at an Annual General Meeting or Special General Meeting of the Club and any such alteration or addition shall be stated in the notice concerning the Meeting. A majority of two- thirds of those present shall be required to effect any alterations or additions.
11. The Annual Subscription shall be set at the A.G.M and shall be due on the 1st of January of the following year.
In addition, there shall be fees payable for the various Sports Sections, the amount being at the discretion of each section. Old Age Pensioners and Students in Full-Time Education to the age of 21 shall be admitted to the full Membership of the Club, at the reduced fee set by the A.G.M.
12. The Committee shall be empowered to terminate the Membership of any Member whose subscription is more than 30 days in arrears.
13. The Club's Accounts shall be subject to an Annual Audit.
14. The Club shall appoint Trustees to hold any freehold or leasehold land within the Club's ownership. They shall not be less than two in number, nor more than four and shall be elected by the Committee of the Club. In any event, neither the Chairman nor the Treasurer nor the Secretary of the Club for the time being shall be eligible of being elected or appointed to be a Trustee. They shall deal with the Property of the Club as directed by the Resolution of the Committee (of which an entry in the minute book of the Club shall be conclusive evidence) and they shall be indemnified against risk and expense by the Club. In particular the Club shall take out all insurances necessary to support the indemnity.
The Committee of the Club shall not require the Trustees to do anything that is contrary to the Terms of the Trust, Conveyance, or Lease under which they hold the Property. The Committee shall likewise adhere to the Conditions of the Trust, Conveyance, or Lease as required by the Trustees.
The elected Trustees shall hold Office until death or resignation or until removed from the Office by resolution of either the Committee or the Members.
15. The Club House can be open from 11:00 until 00:00 Sundays to Thursdays, and 11:00 until 00:30 Fridays and Saturdays, at the discretion of the Serving Member.
The permitted hours for the sale and purchase of alcoholic refreshment in the Club House, Hambleden, shall be those applicable to the normal Licensed Trade.
16. Membership of the Club is open to any Member of the Public generally who shall be elected by the Club in General Meeting or by the General Committee, such election being decided by a simple majority of those present. The name and address of any person proposed for election must, for not less than two days before the election, be displayed on the Club Notice Board, or otherwise prominently placed on the Club Premises in a part frequented by the Members.
No Persons shall be admitted to Membership of the Club unless duly elected as herein, before provided nor may any persons be admitted to any privilege of Membership, before being admitted to Membership.
A list of the names and addresses of all Membership of the Club shall be kept on the Club Premises.
17. A Member can introduce not more than two guests into the Club at any one time, and shall be responsible for their conduct whilst in the Club. The names and addresses of all Guests and the Members signing them in shall be entered on a book (provided for that purpose) which shall be kept on the Club Premises and produced on demand for inspection by a Police Constable in Uniform.
18. Under No Circumstances may a Non-Member be allowed to purchase alcoholic refreshment. No intoxicating liquor shall be supplied to a person under the age of eighteen years.
19. Each Member shall be provided with a copy of these Rules, by which he or she shall be bound and these rules shall be strictly enforced.
